Happy Holidays Everyone – See You In The New Year!

Melinda and Matt, 2009

I wanted to take a moment to thank you all for reading, and for your participation in this community.  You all are amazing in all that you do, and I feel privileged to be a part of each of your lives in some way.  Thank you.

I’ll be spending the next few days doing some housekeeping here.  There are some usability issues that I’ve been wanting to fix for a while, and I need to update the WordPress software – it’s extremely out of date!

And I would LOVE your input.  Is there anything you’re missing?  Anything that drives you crazy?  Or conversely, anything you want to make sure I keep, or that you want to see more of?  PLEASE LET ME KNOW!! I want to make this the most incredible and useful site it can be, and you can help by telling me how you feel about it.

You can just write your ideas straight in the comments below, or you can email me if you’re more comfortable.  I appreciate in advance your thoughtfulness – this really will help me a great deal.

Until the New Year… Have a safe and wonderful holiday season.

  • Thanks for being here! I’m doing house keeping too, of all sorts. :) I’ll let you know if I think of something.

I found your blog when searching for ‘no poo’ methods about a month ago. Since then I have browsed your posts reading about other simple ways one can work towards a more green and organic lifestyle. You have shown that such a change is not as difficult or expensive as I originally thought it would be. I look forward to reading and trying more options in 2010.

Happy New Year’s day! I hope that it’s a good one for you and for those around you.

I enjoy most of the posts on sustainability, as well as those on nifty ways to recycle things you already own or ways to use common household products. I also like the updates on your vegetables, although I’m not currently growing any of my own food.

One thing that I’ve been wondering about, however, is how you deal with menstrual issues. (I’ll apologize now in case this is an uncomfortable topic for you in any way.) Assuming that you have periods, do you use/have you considered cloth pads, menstrual cups, or anything else along that vein? Even if you, personally, don’t use these types of products, they may still be worth a mention as fairly healthy and environmentally-conscious alternatives to typical tampons and pads.

  • I’m so hoping I might meet you in 2010. A long time friend of mine (from Colorado) is talking to me about making an adventure before we get too old. I don’t want to fly, I haven’t vacationed for years – but I suggested we take the train up the coast to Portland, to Vancouver and /or along the Oregon Coast. I was wondering if you know anyone who’d like to exchange homes? Since I live several blocks from the Pacific Ocean in the north coast of San Diego – it is a spectacular spot in August and early September. Heck, I think it is paradise all year long. Happy 2010 to you!

  • Thanks again, Deb, for your input. Invaluable.

Cynthia Sue, I’m so glad to hear it – thank you!

Emily M, I appreciate your candor – not uncomfortable at all. I will write a post about it, as it is important and not oft talked about.

katecontinued, Fabulous! Let me know when you come to Portland, and maybe I can come down (it’s about 5 hours from me). I’ve taken the train – a long time ago – and it was a beautiful experience. I don’t know many people in Portland, unfortunately, but I reach out to those I do know and see what comes up. Looking forward to the possibility of meeting!
